Success Story: Design Impact Studio

Design Impact Studio is a female-led creative agency providing branding, website design and website development services. The company is led by Lizzie Curtis and Rebecca Burgess who specialise in designing and building websites for charities and organisations who are making the world a better place. They are based in Peckham, South East London, but support organisations throughout the UK.

Lizzie and Rebecca were introduced to BCDF in late June 2025. The company had ambitions for growth but wanted to build a strong foundation from which to grow sustainably.

As their work is mostly project based, Design Impact will often need to invest time and money into projects before being paid by their customers. The costs they accrue in delivering their service need to be covered by the business, requiring them to spend precious cash reserves. This meant that cashflow and reserves became unpredictable.

A major objective of Lizzie and Rebecca in their growth journey was to build their cash reserves and to create a buffer. This buffer would give them cash to invest into the growth of the business and also breathing space during slower periods. The current model didn’t allow for this. BCDF took the time to understand the needs of the company, the objectives of the owners, and the barriers preventing this.

This facility would provide them with a short term line of credit outside of their own cash reserves that they could access to cover the cost of sales, helping to preserve and grow their cash buffer. When customers paid for the service, this facility could then be paid off – fast, simple and cost effective!
